The nutrition of patients matters! We are renovating the Food Block within the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital.

The Public Hospitals with Private Funds initiative, together with MaxBet Romania, has initiated the renovation works for the Food Block within the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital.

The SUUB Food Block is a highly important facility in the hospital's daily activity, serving over 900 hospitalized patients daily and providing food for over 250,000 patients annually.

The last renovation was made in 2010, and despite SUUB's efforts in recent years to attract the necessary funds for the rehabilitation and expansion of the entire building complex that forms the institution's infrastructure, the rehabilitation plan for the food block itself was not included in the general rehabilitation plan.

In November 2022, following a thorough inspection, the National Authority for Consumer Protection imposed the suspension of activity due to non-compliance with safety standards in public food consumption.

Therefore, the Metropolis Foundation, through the Public Hospitals from Private Funds initiative, has decided to urgently intervene in this project of exceptional importance for the treatment of patients. The kitchen extends over an area of 550 sqm, and the works consist of restoring the floor, walls, and ceiling with antibacterial materials, restoring the water sources and replacing sanitary fixtures, installing the fire alarm system, and procuring equipment.

MaxBet company understands the importance of patients' nutrition and has joined the renovation of the food block with a donation of 100,000 euros, becoming the largest supporter of the project. Thank you for all your support and involvement in the Romanian medical system!

The Metropolis Foundation has been contributing for over 20 years to building a world where people smile, by providing access to health, education, and balanced emotional development. The foundation focuses on social assistance for vulnerable children in its own and partner centers, on renovating and equipping public hospitals with medical equipment from private funds, on supporting verified individual causes, and on helping stray animals from partner shelters.

In total, MaxBet has allocated over 4.2 million euros to CSR projects, with a focus on excellence and innovation in Romanian medicine, and improving conditions in the medical system.
