Champions in good deeds support another team of doctors

Perseverance, involvement, and responsibility are attributes of the people who work in MaxBet. These are perpetuated for more than 15 years, and now, more than ever, there are the words that define us. 6 years ago, we opened the doors of a bold project, a project that has now been classified as the company's second largest teambuilding. The Football Championship attracts annually hundreds of the company’ employees on the sports fields for a single reason: a sports competition with a humanitarian purpose. Each team entered in the championship receives from MaxBet an amount of money equivalent to the performance on the field. The amount earned is then directed to a social cause for which the company's employees have chosen to compete.

This year we set out to aim higher than in previous years. Of the 35 teams registered in the Internal Football Championship, 14 have chosen to give everything they can for a special cause. MaxBet proposed to its employees to enter the game and earn money in order to purchase a medical equipment, worth 40,000 euros, used in removing brain tumors, for the Neurosurgery Department of the Emergency County Clinical Hospital ”St. Apostle Andrei” Constanta. It is not the first time that the company sponsors a hospital with such equipment, Grigore Alexandrescu Emergency Clinical Hospital for Children being the first to benefit from such a state-of-the-art device. The ease of use of the medical instrument makes its presence in the operating room necessary, precisely through the real help it provides to doctors.

We say that we wanted to aim higher, because the final amount collected by the 14 teams eager to help reached 50,750 lei, this being supplemented by MaxBet up to the level of 162,792 lei as the total cost of medical equipment. As a result of  our colleagues’efforts, a well-trained team of doctors, which includes young doctors specializing abroad, will be able to perform successful interventions in an area of the country affected by the highest incidence of cranial tumors.

At the beginning of October, together with the project manager of the Championship, the company's PR, the members of the company's CSR committee and some of the MaxBet employees who supported this cause, we went to Constanta to transport the medical equipment and get to know the team of doctors from the Emergency County Clinical Hospital. We were greeted with great enthusiasm by Dr. Balasa Daniel, one of the most experienced surgeons in the Neurosurgery Department who introduced us to the rest of the team. The presentation of the equipment was watched enthusiastically even by our colleagues, fascinated by the miracles that medicine offers us.

All the doctors present concluded that such a revolutionary device should be present in all neurosurgery departments, but the high costs make it difficult to purchase. The health and life of our peers should not be conditioned by a price, but if that price still exists, we are willing to do everything we can to pay for it.
