100 landings on the unique helipad that respects all international standards in the capital city; 100 lives saved faster by the SUUB medical teams thanks to the 1,000,000 Euro investment made by MaxBet.
Bucharest, August 25, 2020 – Last evening, on the helipad buit on top of the Central Surgery Block of the Emergency University Hospital Bucharest, the no. 100 aerial medical transport was registered. The patient, a two-day old infant from Alexandria, was safely brought by the SMURD crew, presenting symptoms of intense hemolytic jaundice. The patient was taken under the surveillance of the Emergency Unit of the hospital.
At this time, the infant is being treated in the maternity of the Emergency University Hospital Bucharest, being subject to a series of investigations, while his condition is described as satisfying.
The new-born was obviously in need of complex care and of a special dedicated treatment, therefore the health care professionals from Alexandria decided his transfer to EUHB. The neonatology department of EUHB is qualified as 3rd degree maternity, having the capacity to ensure high qualification medical care for any type of neonatal pathology and being equipped, by all recent international requirements, with the highest quality intensive care units.
The no. 100 landing on the EUHB’ helipad takes place 8 months after the 1,000,000 Euro investment was put into service, the costs being entirely assumed by MaxBet. The review of emergency medical transports shows that the two flight corridors have been used day and night, despite the weather conditions. As a premiere within the medical system, 20% of the flights took place during the night – the EUHB’ helipad being equipped with electric lighting, saving, protecting and firefighting equipment.
“For us, each life we save represents a victory; for these patients even one minute makes the difference between life and death. All these victories confirm the fact that MaxBet made the best possible investment by building the first medical helipad on terrace in Bucharest, within the biggest medical unit in the capital city. Our one-million-euro investment was made to last, so every patient saved by the doctors can pass the story forward. We have a very special and unique feeling every time we find out that another life was saved, and we could help the heroes from the emergency rooms or from the surgical block. Because we care for our fellow humans, because we know that together we save lives, stated Ioana Bazavan”, General Manager MaxBet.
The 100 patients brought by the SMURD helicopters come from allover the country, most of them being sent from Craiova, Alexandria, Galați, Brăila, Bacău, Constanța and Tulcea.
The majority is diagnozed with heart attack or stroke, because the Emergency University Hospital of Bucharest is recognized for its medical performance in cardiology and having one of the first stroke units, dedicated to neurovascular emergencies. The investment made by MaxBet gives a second chance to the patients with serious and very serious conditions who need special medical care in an emergency unit by shortening the time it takes to get to the ER. For many of them, every minute is vital. As for us, the doctors, the fact that they get to the hospital faster allows us to intervene in time, thus getting an extra chance for life. The highly qualified medical teams from EUHB put the patient s life above anything.
The youngest patient who benefitted from the EUHB heliport was a premature new-born transferred from Alexandria. The doctors there decided that the little one needed a certain type of care that was possible only with the help of some special equipment available only in the maternities in Bucharest. Therefore, just a few hours after birth, the new-born was taken by the SMURD helicopter from Alexandria, brought to EUHB, and from here, transferred by car at the Bucur Maternity.
The busiest day with landings and take-offs at the EUHB’helipad proved to be December 30. 6 helicopters flew patients from all over the country, among them 2 men with heart failure conditions whose lives were saved thanks to the quick transfer.
The EUHB’s helipad started to be functional on December 3, 2019.
The construction of the most modern medical helipad in terrace in Romania started in April last year, the project being signed by ABC Development Aviation.
